Job Creation

Through our human resources policy, we envisage vigorous engagements with local young talent with regard to the execution of this utility Smart Energy Efficiency Project. We recommend that we help establish utility specific Co-Operatives and/or Energy Efficient Contractors from each identified area. As a result, commit to employ 100% of field workers (supervisors and installers) from local young talent. A combination of teams will be allocated an experienced project coordinator to manage performance. Training will be provided.

These individuals or group of people will be empowered to amongst other activities: –

  • Participate in the implementation or roll-out of the utility integrated smart energy efficient technology solutions;
  • Continuously do energy audits; and
  • Importantly, sustain the new smart energy efficient technology solutions.

We would therefore rather focus on project management, mentoring and conducting energy workshops for these teams. These workshops will not only capacitate the Co-Operatives and/or Energy Efficient Contractors but can also have marketable skills development benefits.

A considerable amount of (labour installation costs) money in total contract value will be spent and even though short-term, massive decent employment opportunities on the basis of an expanded public works programme in the execution of these project plans will be created. These trained supervisors and installers will at their own discretion organize themselves after completion of this project to form Energy Efficient Contractors (EEC) and will continue to play a crucial role during sustainability and beyond, of course at the utility’s prerogative.

 We commit to employing >95% of the total indicative staff complement from local community’s young talent (minimum jobs to be created). We envisaged employing >100 employees for the roll-out of the utility integrated smart energy efficient project.
